Gateways Music Festival Returns to Eastman — October 9 Through 12

Every fall, Rochester earns a distinction that few cities can claim. The 31st Gateways Music Festival arrives at the Eastman School of Music, October 9–12, bringing together some of the country's finest Black professional classical musicians for four days of concerts that refuse to stay in one lane. This year features cellist Shana Tucker presenting ChamberSoul — jazz-infused chamber music described as influenced by the soul end of the dial, not just the classical. Alongside Tucker, the festival programs Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, and composers from the African diaspora whose work belongs in every concert hall.
