What's Happening

On June 22, the Seneca Chief — a hand-built replica of the packet boat DeWitt Clinton traveled on when he celebrated the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825 — makes a two-hour dockside stop at Schoen Place as part of the Buffalo Maritime Center's 'Back to Buffalo' Erie Canal tour. You can meet the crew, walk the dock, and spend a few minutes connecting to 200 years of New York history.
