The Pittsford fall sports season didn't wait for the first day of school. Varsity and JV football were already competing by August 17 — eleven days before students returned on September 8. Pittsford fall sports 2026 is running on two tracks: the regular-season competition already underway at Mendon and Sutherland, and two specific October events that give the whole village a reason to show up.

Football opened on August 17, according to the Pittsford Central School District Athletics Department. Every other varsity and JV fall sport followed on August 24. Modified sports joined August 31. The full fall slate covers football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, and field hockey — two schools, five sports, a schedule running through November.

Sutherland's girls volleyball team has already put something on the record. In their Section V opener against Penfield, Natalie Phillips recorded 19 kills in a 3-1 loss. A 3-1 loss to Penfield is a tough early draw. Nineteen kills from one player is a reason to keep watching.

The Inaugural Dig Pink Match — October 3 at Mendon: Pittsford Fall Sports 2026 Launches a New Tradition

The morning after Homecoming, Mendon's gym hosts something new. On October 3, the Mendon Vikings volleyball team hosts Pittsford Sutherland in the first-ever Dig Pink match — a rivalry game organized to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester.

Varsity plays at 10 a.m. JV follows at noon. Fans are asked to wear pink, cheer on the teams, and help raise funds for breast cancer awareness. This is the first Dig Pink match between these two programs.
