Town Supervisor Bill Smith, Village Mayor Alysa Plummer and Superintendent of Schools Shana Cutaia will each give a summary of the year to date and a look at upcoming initiatives. It is an annual Chamber event, and it is open to the public.
The village sits inside the town, so many residents live under all three of these governments at once. This event puts the leaders of all three in front of the same audience in a single morning.
A New Voice at the Podium
For five straight years the lineup did not change. Smith, Plummer and Superintendent Mike Pero shared the stage in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Pero, who started with the district in 1994, announced his retirement, and this October Cutaia speaks for the schools.
She is not new to Pittsford. According to the district, Cutaia started in 2003 as a social studies teacher at Barker Road Middle School, served as assistant principal at Brighton's Twelve Corners Middle School, and came back in 2014 as Barker Road's principal, a job she held until 2021. Under her leadership the school was named a National School to Watch.
In 2021 she became the district's Director of Student Services, overseeing health and safety, counseling, nursing and social-emotional support, before she took the oath as superintendent on December 1, 2025. She and her husband live in Pittsford, and their two children attend Pittsford Schools.
Three Leaders, Three Offices
Smith was elected to the Town Board in 1995 and played a central role in the Greenprint plan, which preserved two-thirds of the town's remaining farmland, according to his Town Board biography. He was elected supervisor in November 2013. In November 2025 he won a seventh term, and Democrats won both Town Board seats on the ballot, giving them all four.
Plummer's 2021 win made her the village's first new mayor since 1993. In March 2025 she was re-elected over trustee Lisa Cove by a single vote, a margin that held through a recount, and she is serving a four-year term.
