Pittsford Board of Trustees Workshop, September 2026: Zoning and Code Updates, Plus a Liquor Authority Notice

The Pittsford Board of Trustees workshop for September 2026 runs at 12:15 PM Wednesday at Village Hall, and the agenda posted for it holds exactly two items. The Village posted an updated version the afternoon before the meeting, adding the second one.

The first agenda posted for this meeting carried only the zoning item. The updated agenda was generated on September 15 at 3:21 PM and added the State Liquor Authority (SLA) item. At the September 8 regular meeting, the agenda carried a short-term rental moratorium as item six and a Monroe County Sheriff's Office recommendation for a code update on e-bike and limited-use motorcycle safety as item four. That same night, trustees voted 5–0 to direct the village attorney to rewrite the sidewalk bike law 28 days after adopting it. Short-term rentals have been a live question here since the wind-down period for existing operators under Article 29 came due this summer.

Item two involves the New York State Liquor Authority, the state agency that issues liquor licenses. The village does not grant them.

What the village does is receive notice. Local governments must be notified of every on-premises license application in their area at least 30 days before the Liquor Authority may process it, on a form the Authority prescribes, and outside New York City that notice goes to the clerk of the village, town, or city where the premises sits. Signing an acknowledgment of receipt confirms the notice arrived.

The reason it lands on a board agenda rather than a clerk's desk: under state Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, a municipality may express an opinion for or against granting the application, and that opinion becomes part of the record the Liquor Authority rules on. The acknowledgment starts the window in which the village can say something.
