Pittsford Panthers Lacrosse 2026: A Perfect Season Ends Two Goals Short

The Short Version

  • Pittsford finished 18-1, the last unbeaten boys lacrosse team in Section V until the final — a perfect regular season and a run to the Class B championship game
  • Victor won the Class B final 14-12 at St. John Fisher, handing Pittsford its only loss of the year and claiming the Blue Devils' 11th sectional title
  • Trailing 8-4 at halftime, the Panthers clawed within 10-8 before Victor steadied early in the fourth; Jahyden Maiorani led Pittsford with five goals
  • Keegan Jacob anchored the faceoff X all spring, reaching 200 career faceoff wins as Pittsford controlled possession through its undefeated run

For one spring, Pittsford had the best boys lacrosse team in Section V. The Pittsford Panthers lacrosse 2026 season ran eighteen games without a loss — the last unbeaten boys lacrosse program left standing in the section. On Saturday at St. John Fisher, that perfect record met a very good Victor team and came up two goals short of a sectional title.

All spring, the regional tracker BLaxFive kept landing on the same line: the only undefeated team in Section V is Pittsford. The Panthers ran their record to 13-0, then 14-0, then all the way to 18-0 before the final — the lone perfect mark in a section of more than thirty programs.

Faceoffs were a big part of it. Keegan Jacob anchored the X and reached 200 career faceoff wins this season, the kind of possession edge that quietly decides close games. The program isn't new to this stage, either: Pittsford has won six Section V championships, most recently in 2023, and this group spent the spring chasing a seventh.

The Class B final paired the section's top two seeds: No. 1 Pittsford and No. 2 Victor, a program that has dominated the class for the better part of a decade. Victor led 8-4 at halftime; Pittsford opened the third quarter with three straight goals to cut it to 10-8, but Victor's Colin Wheeler scored sixteen seconds into the fourth and the Blue Devils held on to win 14-12.

Jahyden Maiorani led Pittsford with five goals and Grant Lewis added three.

The win was Victor's eleventh sectional championship and third in four seasons. The Blue Devils advance to face Orchard Park in the state Class B championship round on Wednesday, June 3. Pittsford finished 18-1 — one loss, in the last game, to the team that just won it all.

Eighteen wins and a sectional final is the best lacrosse season Pittsford has put together in years. Some of these players move on from here; some played their last game Saturday. Either way, for two and a half months the village had a team worth driving to St. John Fisher for — and that's worth saying out loud, scoreboard or not.
