Plain-English Explanation
Pittsford's 2027 proposed budget would keep property taxes at the same rate as 2026 — $3.13 per $1,000 of assessed value — for the sixth year in a row. All current services are maintained, and funding increases go toward road repaving, pedestrian safety, ambulance service, and staff cost-of-living adjustments. Residents can weigh in at the public hearing Wednesday, November 4 at 6:00 PM at Town Hall.
Tobey Road Sidewalk Now Open
The new Tobey Road sidewalk is now open! The approximately 0.84-mile sidewalk runs along the north/east side of Tobey Road, from the intersection with Cricket Hill Drive and Stone Road to the existing pedestrian crossing at Clover Street. The sidewalk fills a gap in our pedestrian network, connecting neighborhoods with existing walking routes into the Village of Pittsford. Combined with nearby trails, it also creates a walking loop through Tobey Estates, giving residents more opportunities to get outside and explore our community. Identified as a priority in the Town and Village's Active Transportation Plan, the project is funded by Town highway funds with up to $203,000 in support from Monroe County's Municipal Sidewalk Funding Program.
Town Receives Grants for Safety and Sidewalk Connections

Town Receives Grants for Safety and Sidewalk Connections
The Town of Pittsford has received four Monroe County grants and a $43,000 award from PERMA — the Town's workers' compensation coverage provider — for workplace safety, native plantings, and sidewalk connections. PERMA awarded Pittsford $43,000 for its excellent employee safety record, to support further improvements to the Town's safety program. The Town received a $10,000 grant through Monroe County's Community Climate Action Fund to plant native trees and establish another pollinator garden, matched by $10,000 from the Town ($20,000 total). Three Monroe County grants will support new sidewalk connections: along Mendon Center Road from Calkins Road to Barker Road; an extension of Stone Road from Stonebridge Lane west to the Henrietta town line; and completion of the Thornell Road sidewalk toward Bushnell's Basin. Over roughly the past decade, the Town's sidewalk improvements have totaled approximately 7.67 miles, including 6.94 miles of new construction and 0.73 miles of reconstruction.

To be more accurate, the tax rate may not have increased, but we are paying more taxes now than we did 6 years ago.
