The ceremony will reaffirm our promise to never forget by honoring the more than 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, as well as the first responders, members of the military, and others whose courage and service followed the attacks. At the conclusion of the ceremony, two beams of light will be illuminated from the Powers Farm hill behind Schoen Place, rising into the evening sky in remembrance of the World Trade Center towers. The public is invited to begin gathering at 7:45 p.m. and should bring chairs or blankets.

The Election Date Resident Survey has been certified with the following results:
March: 27 votes
June: 106 votes. (113 responses received; 7 excluded because the respondents could not be verified as [registered Village voters](/pcsd-budget-vote-may-19-what-pittsford-voters-need-to-know))
November: 101 votes. (105 responses received; 4 excluded because the respondents could not be verified as registered Village voters)
At the recent [Trustee meeting](/events/village-of-pittsford-board-of-trustees-regular-meeting-september-22), the village attorney was directed to draft a resolution for the proposition to change the village election date to June to be placed on the ballot for the March 2027 village election. Thank you to all registered Village voters who participated. We appreciate your feedback.

Sutherland Street Traffic Advisory — September 15
Crews will return to Sutherland Street on Tuesday, September 15, beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m. to repair the traffic detection loops in the roadway that operate the traffic signal at [Jefferson Road](/pittsford-pzba-meeting-september-2-2026-abode-furniture-addition-at-50-state-street). Work is expected to take only a few hours and is weather permitting. Several parking spaces on Sutherland Street closest to Jefferson Road will be temporarily unavailable to accommodate work vehicles.
The work is scheduled to begin after the morning school arrival period. Students and staff will continue to have access to the school; however, traffic will be able to only enter Sutherland Street from Jefferson Road but will not be able to exit Sutherland onto Jefferson Road. Motorists should use Lincoln Avenue or Monroe Avenue when leaving the area. Emergency access will be maintained at all times, and normal traffic flow will be restored as soon as work is completed.

It's nice to have this, but I hope those lights don't stay on for very long. The lights will confuse and disrupt migrating birds in the area.

Cindy Traynor I understand the concern about migrating birds, but I think some perspective is important here. These lights are part of a 9/11 remembrance honoring thousands of people who lost their lives and the families who still live with that loss today. For one evening, I think remembering them and what those two beams represent deserves to be the focus.

Today, especially, we remember what it means to be American. We honor the innocent lives lost on September 11th, the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and service members who ran toward danger, and the men and women who have sacrificed to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. Even as some are quick to criticize this country, we should never forget the sacrifices that allow us the freedom to do so. We will never forget. God bless our first responders, God bless our troops, and God bless America. 🇺🇸

I think gatherings like this are important because they give us a chance to stop for a few minutes and remember not only the people we lost, but the incredible courage and sacrifice we saw that day and in the days that followed. It’s also one of those moments when a community can come together, regardless of our differences, and simply be neighbors. I’m glad Pittsford continues to make time for that remembrance.
