The following is the bulletin as distributed by the Office of Mayor Alysa S. Plummer, Village of Pittsford, April 17, 2026.

Community Awareness - A message from the Mayor TOLERANCE Definition: Willingness to accept behavior and beliefs that are different from your own, although you might not agree with or approve of them. Dear Friends and Neighbors, Recently ribbons were tied to village streetlights to acknowledge Transgender Awareness. It was an initiative by a local non-profit and approved by the Board of Trustees as March 31st is International Transgender Awareness Day. Sixty-three ribbons were tied to poles by volunteers. When their permit was up volunteers went to take down the ribbons only to find that sixty of them had been cut off and discarded during the night. A police report was filed, and we are asking neighbors along Main Street, particularly in the commercial districts with security cameras, to provide the sheriff's office with film footage during that time. We know the event took place on April 2nd approximately around 9 pm. Please contact the village office if you have any information. This was a deliberate and mean-spirited act that has no place in our community. I ask that you click the link below to read the public comment made by the president of the non-profit. When it was read to the Trustees it touched everyone deeply and reminded us that we all are quite simply, human and want to live our best and most authentic lives. Let us move forward with kindness and grace. Mayor Alysa Plummer
