Schoen Place Bike Safety Jamboree

Mark your calendars for a fun and informative morning focused on bike safety for all ages! Saturday, May 16 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Towpath Bike Parking Lot, 21 Schoen Place, Pittsford, NY 14534 Join us for a family-friendly Bike Safety Jamboree to get everyone rolling safely into the season. - Quick review of bike safety tips - Meet local community partners and safety experts - Take home helpful resources and materials - Free bike bells for kids (while supplies last!) - Opportunities to connect, learn, and ask questions Please register attendees under the age of 16 to RSVP in advance to help us plan for giveaways and materials. A free family bike safety event at Towpath Bike's parking lot on Schoen Place, Saturday May 16 from 9–10am. Free bike bells for kids while supplies last. If you have children under 16 attending, RSVP in advance so the Village can plan for giveaways and materials.

On the Water Again: Canal Navigation Season Opens May 15

The following is the announcement as distributed by the Office of Mayor Alysa S. Plummer, Village of Pittsford, April 24, 2026.

The New York State Canal System officially opens for the 2026 navigation season on Friday, May 15. From scenic boat rides on the Sam Patch to lock demonstrations and guided cruises, the canal comes alive each year with activity and exploration. Most commercial boat tours, lock cruises, and on-water programs run from mid-May through mid- to late-October, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water throughout the season.

The Erie Canal opens for the season on May 15. The Sam Patch and other boat tour operators will run through mid- to late-October — a full season of lock cruises, guided tours, and on-water programming right here in the Village.

DPW Summer Hours Begin May 1

The following is the announcement as distributed by the Office of Mayor Alysa S. Plummer, Village of Pittsford, April 24, 2026.

The Village Department of Public Works (DPW) will transition to summer hours beginning Friday, May 1, 2026. Seasonal Schedule: May 1 – Fall Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM Fridays: Garage closes at 10:00 AM DPW offices will remain closed on official holidays. In the coming weeks, the Village Hall office will transition to summer office hours. Seasonal Schedule: May 29 – September 11 Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Fridays: Office closes at 1:00 PM Village offices will remain closed on official holidays.

DPW shifts to early summer hours starting May 1 — early mornings Monday through Thursday, with the garage closing at 10am on Fridays. Village Hall itself moves to summer hours later, starting May 29 through September 11, with Friday closings at 1pm.
